The KILKIM ŽAIBU Festival Takes Place in Ukmergė!
The Baltic culture and extreme music festival KILKIM ŽAIBU stays in the hospitable Aukštaitija region. The event will take place on June 21st – 23rd, 2024, in President Antanas Smetona’s manor museum territory in the Ukmergė district.
The two years of successful cooperation with Ukmergė’s culture and government representatives encouraged us to keep enjoying the town’s rock’n’roll
hospitality. We have already tamed the new location and believe that the event in it can get even more cosy and inviting. The convenient location helps us bring more performers of all kinds from foreign countries. The festival’s programme is shaping up to be plentiful.
It’s no coincidence that the festival often takes place during the summer solstice. Since one of the core concepts of the festival has always been honouring ethnic traditions, there will be motifs of ancient Midsummer celebration traditions next to the quality alternative music concerts. The two-sided festival will yet again create an opportunity to celebrate Midsummer with thunder.
A considerable amount of work is already done, the full picture is taking shape. The news about confirmed performers will be announced in parts like always. We will have enough time to familiarise ourselves with the bands’ output and choose the most awaited ones. KILKIM ŽAIBU is not just a three-day-long festival. Organising it takes the entire year. Heavy music is not only the main axis of the event but also its fuelling force that accompanies and feeds us daily. Therefore, we invite you to be active and share your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. Join the KILKIM ŽAIBU world, listen, read and simply wait for the event together. There’s a sea of culture and talented creators that interest us. We still feel the hunger for extreme art. So let’s armour up in bestial patience – the nine-month wait will transform into an energy discharge, we’ll celebrate Midsummer, spin the “Thunder” wheel, and the path of new beginnings will meet us again.

Mani favorīti ir The Nocturnal Silence (1993), Hrimthursum (2006) un divi pēdējie, taču sliktu albumu viņiem nav. Īsti bleks jau arī nekad nav bijuši, vienmēr kāda desas piešprice, lielāka vai mazāka.
Tagad rodas jautājums, vai varbūt In Aphelion arī gaidāms? Puse sastāva tā pati, dzīvajā pat 3/4, un pērn vairākos festos ir bijuši abi.

'Vēngrieži...' Esi arī kādreiz MDB klausījusies? MDB ir faking leģendas un, tieši pretēji, pierādījums tam, kā sēras, skumjas un depresiju translēt MAKSIMĀLI pacilājošā un dzīvi apliecinošā mūzikā. Kad pirmo reizi klausījes no sākuma līdz galam to procentnieku albumu, tur širmis ne pa jokas aizgāja, viņi gan jau arī psihodēliju pārzina. Es arī neesmu KŽ bijis kopš 2008. gada, izskatās, ka ir iemesls aizbraukt.

Procentnieks sen nav klausīts, bet likās stipri švakāks par pārējiem pagājušā gs. albumiem

Pinčuk, mans mīļākais MDB albis ir Songs of Darkness, Words of Light, bet tas nemaina to, ka šo grupu tāpat uzskatu par vēngriežiem, jo dzīvajā viņi IR smagi

sevi es ar pieskaitu pie veciem MDB faniem, principā, vēl no laikiem, kad žanrs bija slavas zenītā, vismaz pie mums. Ņemot vērā, ka bezinterneta laikos visa rietumu kultūrvide t.sk. mūzikas mode pie mums nonāca ar dažu gadu kavēšanos un 90to vidū/otrā pusē death/doom rietumos jau bija sācis panīkt, kad attiecīgā žanra celmlauži sāka eksperimentēt un arvien attālinājās no saknēm (taisnības labad jāsaka, ka MDB neko daudz nenovirzījās, vien % `98 albumā drusku paākstījās, bet albums labs), tad pie mums šis stils jprjm gāja uzvaras gājienu. Man favorīts toreiz bija The Angel and the Dark river `95 ar episko intro no The Cry of Mankind, drīzāk gan tāpēc, ka pirmā kasete no MDB :D Visi jau pamatā slavēja Turn Loose the Swans `93. Skaidrs, ka šis muzons (tāpāt kā agrīnie PL, Anathema, Tiamat u.t.t.) toreiz atstāja dziļu emocionālo iespaidu, tas bija kautkas jauns, svaigs. Un nekad vairs neizraisa līdzīgas emocijas, lai cik krutus albumus šodien tās grupas izlaistu. MDB klātienē esmu redzējis 1x, Igaunijā HRL festā 2011.g. Nu būs jāskatās, kur šos ķert, KŽ vai BA...pēc situācijas.

Kāds no orgiem vai piekļuvi orgiem var atrisināt to figņu ar muļļāšanos ap ieeju? It kā jau varētu arī 5h (ap/iekš) mašīnā kost, bet, nedaudz parēķinot, tad jau karpatus varu arī skatīt uz ekrāna (ne-krāna!!!) un kost mājās (ne krēslā!!!) un ventilatora (fan) kompānijā!!!

No vecajiem man mīļākais ir ''Like Gods of the Sun'' (1996), bet no ''jaunajiem'' ''For Lies I Sire'' (2009). Ne viens, ne otrs nav pie labāk vērtētajiem MA, bet nu cepī. Decembrī ''Turn Loose the Swans'' noklausījos (ne jau pirmo reiz, bet pēc ilgiem gadiem) - ir jau labs un tas tīrais vokāls pat oriģināls, bet līdz galam dirsu nespārdīja.
